A journey of passion, learning, and friendship

Rainbow School News - August/September 2025

August and September 2025 were marked by memorable moments, wonderful encounters, and moving celebrations at the Rainbow School in Nerok, Zanskar. This story recounts the main events of this period, encompassing learning, sports, culture, and friendship.

Key events:

Presentation of material enrichment

Each year, our students enthusiastically prepare for their subject enrichment presentation. Working in small groups, they explore various topics—English, science, mathematics, social studies, computer science, and Tibetan—and share their discoveries with their classmates and teachers. This experience develops their confidence, curiosity, and ability to express themselves clearly.

Annual inter-house sports meet

The annual sports meet is one of the most anticipated events of the year. For three days, the school's four houses compete in a spirit of respect and camaraderie. Students learn the value of fair play, teamwork, and perseverance. The winners receive trophies and certificates, symbols of effort and determination.

Visit from Mrs. Amandine Lepers and her family

We were delighted to welcome back Ms. Amandine Lepers Stanzin and her family, the first volunteer architect to have participated in the creation of our school. Her return brought back many memories: the humble beginnings, the challenges of wind and cold, and the strength of a shared vision. Thanks to her dedication, Rainbow School is today a vibrant and inspiring place of learning.

Celebrating Teachers' Day

As every year, our students celebrated Teacher Appreciation Day with gratitude and creativity. Poems, dances, speeches, and handmade gifts expressed their love for those who guide them every day. This day reminds us of the importance of human connection at the heart of education.

Visit from friends of President and Founder Pierre Odier

We also had the honor of welcoming friends of our founding President. For two days, they shared their knowledge and experiences, enriching the lives of our teachers and students. This intercultural exchange strengthened the bonds of friendship and mutual support between our communities.

Mr. and Miss Wednesday

Every Wednesday, Rainbow School celebrates the beauty of local traditions through the "Mr. and Miss Wednesday" competition. One male and one female student are chosen for their finest traditional attire. This initiative fosters cultural pride and a love for our roots.

Fourth anniversary of the school's founding

The school's founding anniversary was celebrated in grand style. In the presence of Mr. Pierre Odier, president and founder, and Ms. Annick Galland Malissard, founder of the computer lab, our students presented colorful and moving performances. Dances, songs, and games made this day an unforgettable moment, filled with joy and gratitude.

These two months have perfectly exemplified the spirit of Rainbow School: learning, sharing, and growing together. We thank all the teachers, parents, students, and friends for their unwavering support. Together, we will continue to build a bright future for our children.
